KIBES32 Vehicle Multiplex Networking

KIBES32 Vehicle Multiplex Networking

Kibes

KIBES-32 vehicle multiplex networking is one of the most innovative and advanced vehicle control and monitoring technologies. In addition to providing a better way to control and monitor the vehicle, KIBES-32 is also a complete, end-to-end diagnostics system that allows you to see what’s working, failing, or malfunctioning – from the driver’s seat, a PC, or even a remote location. KIBES-32 can act as a portal to all in-vehicle CAN buses.

Centralized diagnostics and accessibility
The KIBES-32 system provides two innovative performance features that are not available on competitive systems: centralized diagnostics and information accessibility. All of the diagnostics data is presented in one common display, and represents advancement over the industry’s current use of LEDs to display failures, which requires technicians to open multiple access points and check multiple nodes to troubleshoot the problem. The KIBES-32 system provides a ‘clean hands’ approach to diagnostics and troubleshooting by allowing them to see exactly what's working, failing, or malfunctioning without having to physically inspect several areas and compartments around and under the bus in order to pinpoint the problem. All of the information is easily accessible by direct PC connection, remote, or via the driver’s instrument panel. The KIBES onboard display can also be configured to provide specific information to the driver, technician, and R&D personnel that is pertinent to their function and responsibilities.

A partnership of superior hardware architecture and software
We have been a leader in developing and supplying innovative onboard diagnostics and control technology for a wide range of commercial vehicle applications. In developing its KIBES technology, we have created a best-in-class, end-to-end package that can be custom-engineered to meet the customer’s exact specifications and operational requirements. We’ve added more value by partnering with Working with Logena, gives us the capability to provide our customers with an integrated systems package that includes hardware, software, programming support and consultation. For example, we offer the freedom to program the onboard display to a customer defined layout and a menu structure using graphical software modules based on IEC 61131.

Driver improvement, operational efficiency
KIBES-32 customers will also see an improvement in driver performance and vehicle operation. The system can monitor driver behavior and encourage proper driving to help reduce excessive idling, speeding and hard braking. It can also help guide the driver to employ more fuel-efficient driving techniques, such as using regenerative braking versus mechanical braking.

KIBES-32 replaces bulky wiring harnesses and conventional electronics with a flexible multiplex architecture that saves on design, build, and installation costs, while providing better reliability and easier retrofits. It allows easy connection to a variety of components in the engine, cab, and body, and is easily programmed through our model-based application programming tool. KIBES-32 also supports various interfaces for driver information, including stand-alone color monitors (DMUX), integrated display/instrument clusters (MOKI) and displays integrated into a complete ergonomic cockpit module such as the VDO Driver Workplace.

The KIBES-32 technology complies with SAE J1939, KWP 2000, SAE J1587, and CANopen.

The KIBES-32 software system (32-bit controller) utilizes Windows PC-based PLC programming. It is built on an open and scalable product platform, using both off-the-shelf and custom components that can be mounted and configured in a variety of ways and combinations. When integrated into a vehicle, the system allows the bus designer to quickly and efficiently make changes to operational, diagnostic and developmental parameters. This capability not only makes it possible for the designers to meet the specific customer requirements but also puts bus manufacturers and operators alike in an excellent position to meet the competitive needs of an evolving marketplace.
